Poddar felt toyed with by Tarasoff. In the subsequent months, he sank into a deep depression, often skipping work and school and rarely leaving his room. Desperate, he befriended Tarasoff’s brother, Alex, who became his roommate. Twice, Poddar angrily told co-workers he would like to blow up Tarasoff’s home.

Tatiana refused to speak with him and she screamed. Poddar then shot her with the pellet gun, and Tatiana ran away from the house. with Poddar. Poddar was obsessed with Tarasoff and following their breakup he was devastated and depressed. He began seeing a therapist, Lawrence Moore.

So, Poddar was not on drugs, nor was he under psychiatric care, when he killed Tatiana Tarasoff. On October 27, 1969, Prosenjit Poddar killed Tatiana Tarasoff. Plaintiffs, Tatiana's parents, allege that two months earlier Poddar confided his intention to kill Tatiana to Dr. Lawrence Moore, a psychologist.
